Example of Product Owner Job Description


  • Company overview: Founding vision, current state of affairs, size, relevant stats. 
  • Role mission: Goals, team, and resources to make it happen. 


  • Define and communicate the product vision and strategy.
  •  Gather and prioritize product requirements based on customer feedback, market research, and business objectives.
  •  Create and maintain the product backlog, ensuring it is transparent, visible, and understood.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, design, marketing, and sales, to ensure product alignment and delivery.
  • Develop detailed user stories and acceptance criteria for the development team.
  •  Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and sprint reviews to provide clarity and direction to the team.
  •  Make informed decisions to balance scope, schedule, and resources.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
  •  2-4 years of experience in B2B services.
  •  Excellent client and relationship management skills, with confidence in presentations and influencing.
  •  Strong commercial acumen with high levels of motivation and attention to detail.
  •  Proficient in task management and prioritizing work and projects.
  •  Strong focus on teamwork with excellent written and oral communication skills to shape effective workflows.

Nice to Have for Product Owner:

  • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA) or relevant certifications.
  • Experience in agile development methodologies.
  •  Familiarity with product management tools (e.g., JIRA, Trello).
  •  Experience in a tech-driven environment.
