Example of a Animation Artist Job Description
INTRODUCTION:
- Company overview: Founding vision, current state of affairs, size, relevant stats.
- Role mission: Goals, team and resources to make it happen.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with the creative team to conceptualize and develop character designs that align with the project's theme, target audience, and brand identity.
- Generate sketches, illustrations, and digital renderings of characters, considering factors such as personality, movement, and expression.
- Utilize animation principles and techniques to bring characters to life, including creating keyframes, poses, and motion cycles.
- Work closely with animators and riggers to ensure character designs are animation-ready and can be smoothly integrated into production pipelines.
- Iterate and refine character animations based on feedback from stakeholders, maintaining consistency and quality throughout the project.
- Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in animation technology to continually enhance skills and techniques.
- Provide creative input on character development, including movement styles, gestures, and facial expressions.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure cohesive collaboration and alignment with project goals.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in character animation or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree in Animation, Fine Arts, or a relevant discipline.
- Proficiency in animation software such as Adobe Animate, Toon Boom Harmony, or Autodesk Maya.
- Strong understanding of animation principles, including timing, spacing, and squash and stretch.
- Ability to create expressive and dynamic character animations that convey emotion and personality.
- Knowledge of rigging and character setup processes to ensure animations are technically feasible.
- Experience with 2D and/or 3D animation techniques is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team environment.
- Capacity to accept and incorporate feedback to improve animation quality.
- Portfolio showcasing a range of character animations and creative abilities.
NICE TO HAVES:
- Proficiency in additional animation software tools such as Blender or Cinema 4D.
- Experience with motion capture technology and techniques for capturing realistic character movements.

- Background in storytelling or narrative development, contributing to character-driven storytelling through animation.
