Example of Account Manager Job Description

Introduction:

  • Company overview: Founding vision, current state of affairs, size, relevant stats.
  • Role mission: Goals, team and resources to make it happen.

Responsibilities:

  • Advocating for the brand/service/product, while also championing client needs within the organisation.
  • Researching and understanding client’s industry, products and competitors.
  • Fully understanding client briefs and requirements.
  • Nurturing and developing strong client relationships within the existing base.
  • Actively developing the account and seeking revenue opportunities.
  • Setting, monitoring and delivering internal and external sales targets.
  • Seeking and developing new business opportunities.
  • Pitching opportunities and giving presentations to clients.
  • Understanding the client’s creative process and brand goals.
  • Delivering top-quality branded solutions to the client and market.
  • Providing consultation and driving awareness of new technologies, channels and opportunities.
  • Working with internal creative teams to ensure the company meets and exceeds client’s brief and expectations.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ Account Manger experience in a similar sector.
  • You’ll be client focused and understand the need to deliver above clients’ requirements. 
  • Confidence in building strong client relationships to develop business and revenue opportunities.
  • Proficiency in reporting to clients, incorporating feedback, dealing with issues and managing expectations in terms of timeframes and budget.
  • You’ll have a marked commercial focus to your work, with proven track record of surpassing revenue targets.
  • Sensitivity and good judgement is also needed for this role, as is experience in escalating issues before they become a risk to the account.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in researching clients’ business and industry and transferring knowledge and strategy throughout the organisation/your team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a proactive approach to your responsibilities and guiding clients and colleagues.
