My client is an established international technology and digital services business operating within the hotel and hospitality sector. The company provides hotels and hotel groups with a combination of booking technology, online distribution, website solutions and digital marketing services designed to increase direct online revenue and reduce reliance on higher-cost third-party booking channels. Its broader offering also includes areas such as gift vouchers, GDS connectivity and performance intelligence.
With a long track record in hospitality technology and a substantial international customer base, the business combines software with ongoing commercial and digital expertise rather than operating purely as a technology vendor. Its current product portfolio includes an AI-enabled booking platform alongside website and digital media solutions.
My client is now looking to appoint a Sales Executive to develop new business primarily across Ireland, with additional responsibility for opportunities in the UK.
This roles pays a base salary and uncapped commission.
This is a hands-on new-business role suited to an energetic and commercially driven salesperson who enjoys opening doors, developing relationships and progressing opportunities through a consultative sales process. You will be selling a portfolio of technology and digital solutions to hotels and hotel groups, typically engaging with senior commercial, marketing, revenue and management stakeholders.
Hospitality experience would be advantageous, but it is not essential. The company is particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate a strong approach to prospecting, relationship development, presenting solutions and winning new business. The company's own interview brief makes clear that candidates are not expected to arrive with detailed hotel-industry knowledge; preparation, sales structure, presentation skills and rapport-building are considered more important.
The position reports into senior sales leadership and is a largely autonomous role. It will therefore suit someone who is comfortable taking ownership of their market, maintaining a healthy pipeline and consistently working towards agreed revenue and activity targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate new business opportunities across the Irish market, while also developing selected opportunities in the UK.
- Build a consistent pipeline through a combination of outbound prospecting, existing leads, referrals, networking and industry contacts.
- Identify and approach prospective hotel and hospitality clients through telephone, email, LinkedIn and other appropriate channels.
- Qualify opportunities and understand each prospect's commercial objectives, existing technology, distribution mix and digital challenges.
- Manage prospects through the early and middle stages of the sales cycle, from initial contact and qualification through to product demonstration, proposal and commercial discussion.
- Present the company's technology and digital solutions clearly, focusing on the commercial value and business outcomes most relevant to each prospective customer.
- Sell across a wider portfolio rather than focusing on a single product, identifying opportunities to introduce complementary services where appropriate.
- Develop relationships with senior decision-makers and influencers within hotels, hotel groups and other target accounts.
- Respond promptly and professionally to incoming sales enquiries and maintain appropriate follow-up activity.
- Handle commercial questions and objections confidently and constructively throughout the sales process.
- Maintain sufficient pipeline coverage to support both current sales targets and longer-term revenue objectives.
- Work towards agreed monthly and annual sales, revenue and activity KPIs.
- Maintain accurate prospect, opportunity and activity information within the company's CRM system.
- Keep up to date with the company's evolving technology and service portfolio.
- Develop a working understanding of competitor offerings and the wider hospitality technology landscape.
- Monitor relevant trends within hospitality, hotel distribution, e-commerce and digital marketing.
- Participate in relevant sales and product training.
- Represent the business at hospitality conferences, exhibitions, networking events and trade shows when required.
- Provide regular pipeline, activity and sales reporting to senior management.
- Collaborate with colleagues across sales, marketing, product and client-facing teams to help progress opportunities and support successful client relationships.
Requirements
- A minimum of approximately three years' relevant B2B sales experience, ideally involving software, technology, digital services or another consultative solution.
- Demonstrable experience of generating and winning new business rather than working exclusively with an existing account base.
- A strong understanding of prospecting, lead qualification, pipeline management and the B2B sales cycle.
- Evidence of successfully working towards and achieving sales or revenue targets.
- Confidence dealing with senior decision-makers and developing relationships across multiple stakeholders within an organisation.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain technology and commercial concepts in a straightforward and persuasive way.
- Good negotiation, influencing and objection-handling skills.
- A proactive approach to prospecting and the resilience required for a genuinely new-business-focused position.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple opportunities and follow-up activities simultaneously.
- High levels of self-motivation and the ability to perform effectively in a relatively autonomous sales role.
- The ability to learn new products and commercial concepts quickly as the company's offering and market continue to evolve.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Willingness and ability to travel for client meetings and industry events when required.
- Full driving licence.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience selling to hotels, hotel groups or the wider hospitality industry.
- An existing network of contacts within the hotel or hospitality sector.
- Experience selling SaaS, online booking, e-commerce, digital marketing, website or distribution-related solutions.
- Understanding of online hotel distribution, revenue management or the relationship between direct bookings and third-party booking channels.
- Familiarity with CRM platforms such as HubSpot.
- Knowledge of hospitality software or hotel technology ecosystems.
- Additional European language skills, particularly Spanish, Italian or German.
- Third-level qualification, although relevant commercial experience will be considered more important.
The Person
My client is looking for someone who is naturally comfortable in a new-business environment: commercially ambitious, persistent and willing to create opportunities rather than waiting for them to arrive.
You should enjoy developing new relationships, making calls, arranging meetings, delivering demonstrations and consistently following opportunities through. The original specification places particular emphasis on energy, self-motivation, continuous prospecting and an ability to learn independently.
This would particularly suit an accomplished B2B salesperson who wants to take ownership of a defined market and sell a portfolio of increasingly sophisticated technology and digital solutions into an established international industry.
