Working across corporate communications, brand engagement and public affairs, the firm partners with organisations to shape narratives, manage reputational risk and deliver integrated campaigns that influence audiences and support commercial objectives.

Due to continued growth and increasing demand for digitally led communications programmes, my client is seeking an experienced Head of Digital Strategy / Digital Director to lead the evolution of digital capability across the agency. This is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping digital strategy, integrating online channels into broader communications campaigns, and advising clients on how best to engage audiences across an increasingly complex media landscape.

The successful candidate will play a key role in driving innovation across the organisation, supporting client teams with strategic digital expertise while helping to develop internal capability and best-in-class practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of integrated digital strategies that support broader communications and business objectives for clients
  • Provide strategic direction on how digital channels should be used within multi-channel communications programmes
  • Contribute to the development of creative digital and social campaigns aligned with client messaging and brand positioning
  • Advise client teams on how digital content can support long-term brand, reputation and engagement goals
  • Analyse campaign performance and provide strategic insights based on digital metrics and analytics
  • Ensure strong accountability and performance measurement across digital communications activity
  • Work closely with internal teams and external agency partners to deliver integrated communications solutions
  • Identify emerging trends, platforms and technologies relevant to clients and provide informed guidance on their adoption
  • Support client teams in developing innovative approaches to digital engagement and audience targeting
  • Develop thought leadership and perspectives on developments in the digital communications landscape
  • Encourage a culture of creativity, experimentation and collaboration across the agency
  • Provide training and mentoring to colleagues to strengthen digital skills across the wider team
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the agency’s digital offering and service capability

Experience & Qualifications

  • Relevant third-level qualification in communications, marketing, public relations, digital media, journalism or a related discipline
  • Approximately 5+ years’ experience working in digital communications, digital marketing or integrated communications strategy
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a leadership or senior advisory role
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing digital strategies within a communications, marketing or agency environment
  • Strong working knowledge of digital marketing tools and technologies
  • Experience using web analytics platforms (e.g. Google Analytics or similar) to evaluate campaign effectiveness
  • Familiarity with digital advertising, search marketing, website management and performance optimisation
  • Strong understanding of current digital communications trends and audience behaviour
  • Experience analysing data and translating insights into actionable strategic recommendations
  • A professional qualification in public relations or communications is advantageous
