Bus Eireann plans to expand its internet presence after selling more than 2,500 tickets - the equivalent of 45 full coaches - through Twitter in recent months. The company has been selling E2 one-way tickets for a range of inter-city off-peak services through its Twitter site, which has over 1,300 followers. The fares represent discounts of around 85 per cent on normal fares for routes including Dublin-Galway, Dublin-Donegal, Limerick-Kerry, Cork Galway and Cork-Waterford. The bus firm plans to launch more offers through Twitter next year, and will apply discounts to other routes including the Dublin-Rosslare service. Bus Eireann also plans to develop its presence on Facebook, where it has 1,650 followers. Andrew McLindon, a spokesman for Bus Eireann, said it used Twitter to let people know ''quickly and directly'' about its latest deals. |
