Holidays Entitlements
Your Holiday Entitlements
Your Holiday entitlements will commence from the day you begin your job.
Your legal entitlement to annual leave is set at a minimum of four working weeks. However, holidays are calculated based on the time you have worked in the job – as a full time employee you basically accrue one week of paid annual leave for every three months that you work.
For part-time work, your entitlement is calculated at eight per cent of the total of the hours you have worked, up to a maximum of four working weeks in the leave year.
You are entitled to nine public holidays throughout the year. Your employer may choose to give you -
— The paid day off on the day
— A paid day off within a month
— An extra day of paid holidays.
— An extra day's pay.
Your Minimum Rest Times and Breaks
By law, you are entitled to:
• Eleven hours of consecutive rest for each twenty four hour period
• A single period of twenty four hours of continuous rest per week.
• You are entitled to a fifteen minute rest period after having worked for more than four and a half hours. You are entitled to a thirty minute rest period after having worked more than six hours - this can include the initial fifteen minute rest period.
Sunday Work:
By law, you are entitled to extra wages or time off in respect of Sunday work.
