SEO and PPC jobs
As there is now a huge move into online marketing, certain skillsets are very much in demand.
Firstly: SEO (Search Engine Optimisation). As a component of online marketing, seo jobs are now readilly available to marketers or IT professionals who specialise in this area. An SEO specialist will have a very good understanding of how to best position a company's website in the top results of Google - this is called an organic listing. If he/she can get a site into the coveted top five results on Google, well then they have done their job effectively. This can be achieved by a combination of strategies, including content managment and link building from industry relevant sites. To organically achieve this positioning is the holy grail for most websites, otherwise a website has the option of having their website in the sponsored results. This requires an understanding of PPC.
PPC stands for Pay Per Click. To be able to create and manage PPC campaigns, you will have to familiarise yourself with the Google or Yahoo interfacess - Google's interface is called Adwords, while Yahoo's is called Overture. There is also quite a jostling for positioning in the sponsored results for key search terms, and basically it is a case of whoever bids the most for key search terms gets to the top.
Typical salaries for an SEO / PPC Specialist range from €23,000 - 27,000 for Junior to €30,000 - 37,000 for Senior.
