Multimedia Writer


The term, Multimedia Writer, is quite broad in that covers the disciplines of Technical Writing, Creative writing and Courseware Writing, and can be applied to various aspects of software (manuals and localisation), web production, CD-ROMs, and Multimedia based training programmes.
As such, a Multimedia Writer, needs to be versatile, and be able to provide text for subjects as varied as highly technical documents to educational material for children.
A Technical Writer must be able to understand what is often complex source material and be adept at simplifying it and presenting it in a way that will be clear to the reader.
Courseware writers (for Multimedia Based Training Programmes) should also be able to present their material in a clear and interesting manner, incorporating teaching methods that convey information through text, audio, images and ongoing self evaluation.

As Multimedia is a rapidly growing industry, there is huge potential for anyone considering a career as a Multimedia Writer.
Starting salaries depend very much on qualifications. Writers with technical or design qualifications and some experience can earn between EUR 23,000 - 25,500 per annum, while an experienced Multimedia Writers can earn in excess of EUR 40,000 per annum.
