Account Director


In the agency / client association, an account director is the senior agency executive working with the client throughout the lifecycle of the relationship. The account director will often lead the pitch team in presenting the agency to the client and will be involved in contract negotiation, agreeing goals, service levels, budgets, margins etc. The account director will be responsible for taking client instructions and briefs and for delivering these into the agency team across strategic, operational and creative briefs. As the prime point of contact, the account director will present the agency’s proposed solutions back to the client and will be the conduit between the client’s and agency’s teams. The account director will delegate work within the agency team across client service, creative, media and production and will own the client from the agency’s point of view. Account directors earn a salary in the region €65000 - €115000 with attractive bonus packages dependent on achieving revenue and other targets.

Account Manager


An account manager works with and reports to an account director and will take ownership of certain aspects of a client’s activity as specified by the account director. The account manager will work closely with the client and will be more heavily involved in the operational level contact with the client, and will delegate some of this work into the client service team. An account manager will own some smaller pieces of business within the agency and will deputise for the account director in their absence. Account managers earn a salary in the region €40000 - €75000 with bonus packages dependent on achieving set goals.

Account Executive


An account executive works with and reports to an account manager or director dependent on the account. The executive is involved in the day to day running of the account and making sure that the account is serviced efficiently. They will work under supervision of the manager or director and will perform the everyday activities including organising proofs, chasing copy, gaining client approval etc. Account executives start at salaries c€24/25000 and will progress to senior account executive at a salary up to €40/42000, possibly with a bonus based on the overall agency performance.
